The Read: Rourke is finally in the evaluation window San Francisco purchased with pick 227. He spent his rookie year rehabilitating the right ACL he played on throughout Indiana’s 11-win breakthrough, returned to practice late, and now enters his first full NFL camp behind Brock Purdy and Mac Jones. The college file gives him a legitimate backup-quarterback argument: six years of starts, 67% career completions, anticipation, touch, and enough command to keep an offense on schedule. The dynasty file remains far narrower. He is splitting third-team work with Adrian Martinez, has delivered some camp throws late, and owns no NFL game evidence. Treat him as a developmental QB3 candidate with a possible 2027 backup runway, not a seventh-round sequel to Purdy.
Dynasty UseDeep Superflex watch-list quarterbackMonitor preseason command and the QB3 decision; the first useful outcome is future backup control, not 2026 starts.
Risk ShapeMedical history plus roster gateTwo right-ACL injuries, older entry age, seventh-round protection, and a live QB3 battle can stop the asset before fantasy opportunity exists.
