The Read: Miami showed exactly how Jonnu still matters: manufacture space, put the ball in his hands early, and let a 248-pound mover punish pursuit. Pittsburgh showed the other side one year later. His receiving line fell from 88–884–8 to 38–222–2, and the average collapsed from 10.0 to 5.8 yards per catch despite a familiar coordinator. At 30 and unsigned, Smith is not a lineup answer waiting in plain sight. He is a scheme-dependent TE-premium stash whose next offense must intentionally restore the touches.
